Artist
Folk Thief is the latest incarnation of Canadian indie folk singer/songwriter Dave Hadgkiss. Born and raised in Kamloops B.C., Dave began playing guitar at the age of 14. He spent some time screaming his head off and stomping on distortion pedals with his friend Kris Ruston in the Kamloops geek/punk band, the Gelcaps, and working on his own home-recording project, Weapons Will Kill. But a borrowed copy of the Townes Van Zandt Biopic Be Here to Love Me inspired him to blow the dust off his acoustic guitar and re-examine the ability of music to tell stories and express the full range of human emotion. He began playing local gigs in Vancouver, sharpening his song-writing and guitar-playing skills, and in June 2010, he was invited to open for Blind God at the Railway Club. Folk Thief was born. Love, Heartache and Oblivion is his first album. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
