Despite rock n’ roll’s slight decline in popularity, many modern bands have recently begun experiencing rather impressive commercial success in mainstream radio and video. It seems as if the scattered pieces of American rock music are finally regrouping after being shattered by the fall of the dark, depressing “grunge” movement of the early 90’s. Bands are once again focused on recreating the catchy, hook- ridden and vibrant sounds reminiscent of 80’s pop-rock hits. Fueled by this revised modern movement, New Orleans’ Flowers for Tracy has set out to be part of this new era of modern rock. By incorporating addictive choruses, catchy lead hooks, and simple, yet effective song structures, vocalist/bassist Stewart Dowis, guitarist David Gamble and drummer Eddie Joubert have created timeless music worthy of carrying rock music into the new millennium. Beginning in early 1998, Stewart, Eddie and David returned to song writing after a two year hiatus with hopes of show casing a more mature and focused direction. Many of their earlier bands performed various styles of music, ranging from punk/hard-core to grindcore metal. Realizing that these types of music were beginning to lose the true emotional and heart felt conviction they once held, Flowers for Tracy found a new source of creativity in the revival of the stripped down modern rock sound.
