Floating Bridge was a short-lived but fascinating American psychedelic rock band from Seattle, Washington, active between 1967 and 1969. The band's name comes from the famous bridge in Seattle that crosses Lake Washington. Their sound was a blend of bluesy hard rock, psychedelic guitar riffs, and creative cover versions that made them a hidden gem of the late 1960s. Guitarist Rich Dangel (formerly of The Wailers) and bassist Joe Johnson formed the band after the end of The Time Machine. Their sound was Jimi Hendrix-inspired, featuring twin lead guitars and long guitar rave-ups. They were the house band at Seattle's Eagle Auditorium and performed at the legendary Sky River Rock Festival in 1968. Their only released album from 1969 was Floating Bridge (1969, Vault Records) β a mix of original compositions and cover versions, produced by Jackie Mills. Despite positive reviews and a strong live presence, a commercial breakthrough failed to materialize, and the band soon disappeared from the scene. The band members were Rich Dangel, Joe Johansen, Joe Johnson, Michael Marinelli, and later singer Pat Gossan.
