Artist
First Coat hailed from Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood near the University of Chicago. They played together from 2000 to 2006 under various names (formerly Drexel). Their recordings include a live set from WHPK's Pure Hype radio show recorded in 2001, a self released debut album "great lakes disorder" in 2003, and finally "move like sparrows" released by Loud-Devices in 2005. They belonged to a close-knit collective of Hyde Park musicians and contributed songs to six Mr. Hyde Records compilations. Former members include: Paul Brannon, Travis Carter, Tom Gualkin, Ronnie Kuller, Will Long, Conor Loughridge, Sean Mahan, Becky Stark, Robert Voyer, and Loren Jan Wilson (ever so briefly). Their track "Try Again" is considered a little-known gem of mid-00's indie. Conor Loughridge went on to form the duo Deirdre and Conor.
