Portuguese singer/songwriter, born in Porto in 1944. His family flees Portugal for Belgium (Charleroi) in 1958 because of the difficult political climate. In the sixties he arrives in Amsterdam, where he still lives today. It wasn't until 1994 that he started recording solo albums. Before that Fernando played in different groups and combo's, playing portuguese music , jazz and jazz rock. Although true to his fado roots, Fernando over time developed a style which is an unique musical blend of different genres. His music is at times very melancholic, jazzy, romantic, folky or even uplifting. This eclectic style proves very suitable for surprising musical collaborations with not only contemporary dutch artists, but also world musicians.
