Ferkat Al Ard were a Lebanese band formed in the mid-1970s. They released three albums , with 1979's أغنية (Oghneya) - being their most acclaimed and known album - including arrangements by زياد الرحباني [Ziad Rahbani] and political lyrics that were strongly left-wing, often borrowing from Palestinian poets, such as the like of Samih Al Qasim and Mahmoud Darwish. Oghneya was Re-popularized after German Label Habibi Funk reissued the album in 2022, following from reissuing Issam Hajali's 1977 Solo album "Mouasalat Ila Jacad Al Ard". 1983's تاُملات الكوز في تموز (Ta'amolat Alkuz Fe Tamuz) was only ever available on limited runs of Cassette and has never been released or reissued in official capacity. The band's final album, 1985s هجاء (Hija'a) was released only on Cassette in Lebanon in 1985, amongst the backdrop of the Lebanese Civil War. Again featuring Poetry by Poets like Mahmoud Darwish (الموعد الأول) and Iraqi Poet Mukhlis Khaleel on the title track (هجاء) . It was reissued on CD and Cassette in 1995 after band member Elie Saba arrived in Canada. Since, Issam Hajali now runs a Jewellery business on Beirut's Mar Elias Street. Toufic Farroukh has gone on with his Solo career, releasing Solo albums and performing Jazz. Elie Saba runs his own Studio in Lebanon.
