Formed in 2008, Famine Year is a crust-flavored grindcore band out of Helsinki, Finland. Taking cues from classic acts like Black Flag, Terrorizer, Discharge, Extreme Noise Terror, Napalm Death, Skitsystem & Nasum as well as contemporaries such as Pig Destroyer, Martyrdöd, Trap Them & Totalt Jävla Mörker, their music is fast and violent like the world we live in, their message bleak and apocalyptic like the future ahead. "We sing hateful songs for troubled times", the band states on their MySpace page. So far Famine Year has released one demo and is currently writing songs for upcoming releases and playing shows.
