"The Fabulous Flames were originally formed by Lloyd Lovinder, Oswald "Dougie" Douglas and Kirk Salmon as a dance group, becoming a vocal outfit only after recruiting lead singer, Glen Ricketts on a Canadian tour. Upon their return to Jamaica, the newly formed quartet cut their hit version of Holly Holy for Clancy Eccles and over the next few years made a number of laudable singles. Around 1973, the group disbanded following Ricketts' return to Canada, where he was later joined by Salmons. Lovinder, meanwhile continued to perform and in the 80's had a top 10 hit with"Government Boops".
