Eyeless Owl is the main solo project of Quinn Coniguliaro, bassist/composer in Wyxz and Sun Colored Chair. Quinn has also contributed bass to the likes of In-Dreamview, Filibuster Saloon, Technical Ecstasy, Substanance, Mud Moths, and more. Eyeless Owl primarily consists of Quinn’s compositions but also contains some collaborative writing and instrumentation from other musicians. The eponymous debut album was released in 2020 and established itself as a surreal, psychedelic prog dream with elements of math rock and ambient music intertwining. Atmospheric and textural yet highly dynamic and adventurous, the haziness of this album served as an introduction to the world of Eyeless Owl. In 2021, work began on the follow up release, Murmurations, a progressive rock epic that incorporates several math rock and chamber influences throughout its unique sonic landscape. It was released in January 2023 and marks a significant evolution in Eyeless Owl’s sound and artistic direction. The patterns in which birds fly together and in tight succinct motion is known as a murmuration, and the album attempts to create a musical equivalence to this phenomenon of nature. Quinn is also a visual artist and creates all of his own album covers, music videos and animation, as well as for adjacent projects in which he is involved.
