"The true spirit of hardcore" ~ Kevin Bradford "You sound like Hitler's suicide" ~ Brandon Carnes "You guys suck and have no talent" ~ A girl dating a member of the pop band "2*Sweet" Evolution Via Machinegun was the first murdercore band. Period. Born out of Springfield Illinois, EVM consisted of Alistair Reynolds (vocals), Alex Bulli (guitar), Pat Hildebrand (unplugged electric bass), and Tim Reynolds (drum set/walking snare). Although Pat was not kicked out of the band until the morning of EVM's most recent performance at the end of summer 2009, he never appeared with the band after their third show (the first "last" show) Their first show was an eight minute set consisting of four originals and two reditions of the Misfits song "Skulls" at The Black Sheep Cafe. Nobody moshed, nodded their heads, or even looked as if they could ever enjoy the music. The band received fifty dollars for their artistic endeavours, which went to support their new-found "dogging" habit. The bands second show featured an appearance by Fredrick Jackson the Twice, also known by his rap name of Cornelius Grizzlebazzle, or C.Grizz (a select few may remember him from his comedy routine under the pseudonym "Gordzekiel"). Fredrick played the harmonica on a few songs, and added quite a nice touch to the bands sound. Crowd reactions at this show were much better than the first, although the band never got paid again.
