German composer, keyboardist, musicologist and educator, born 1955 in Rheinberg. Eva-Maria Houben studied Music Education and the organ at Folkwang-Musikhochschule Essen and, following her exams, she taught both German and Music Education at Secondary School. She holds a postdoctoral lecturing qualification in Musicology and as has lectured at both the Gerhard-Mercator-Universität Duisburg and the Robert-Schumann-Hochschule Düsseldorf. Since 1993 she has taught theory and contemporary music at Dortmund University’s Institut für Musik und Musikwissenschaft. Eva-Maria Houben is the author of numerous publications on contemporary music, contemporary composers and traditional music. She has been performing works for the organ for more than thirty-five years. Her list of compositions includes works for the organ, piano, clarinet, trombone, violoncello and other solo instruments, works for voice and piano, for wind and chamber ensembles, for orchestra and for voice and orchestra and works for choir.
