Etcetera (US) began as an experimental project spurned of two brothers, Doug Francis and Thomas Turbeville. Both Doug and Thomas were tired of watered-down, predictable music and yearned for something less common. With the help of the internet, the NC natives tracked down NY bassist Thom Melillo in late 2005. As a three piece, the members played numerous shows in the NC area, but it wasn't until Winter 2006 when the band found its last member, lead guitarist Justin Newman. After two and a half years together, Etcetera is in the process of writing an album based entirely off of a storyline revolving around a series of murders in the late 1800's. The upcoming album, To Be A Villain, is a murder mystery, solvable by the listener as the album plays. The first few tracks introduce the characters: Kensington Hunter (Private Eye), Inspector Vincent (Police Chief), Mr. Impossible (Stage Illusionist), and Gabriella (Magician's Assistant). The next few tracks contain clues to the identity of the killer, as well as deaths of some of the main characters (?)--It is up to YOU to determine what will happen by the last track!! Both the new album and an East Coast tour will be upcoming for Etcetera in Spring and Summer of 2009. If you like what you hear, come support them live--you have never seen a live show like this before!
