Essentia is an alternative rock-band from Tampere, Finland with its roots in Hämeenkyrö. The band was formed in 2001 and today, after 10 years, the five-membered brotherhood is taking new steps and celebrates their 10th anniversary with the release of the debutalbum "Decade". The songs on "Decade" have been composed during the years gone by so they represent the different phases Essentia has gone through. The lyrics may criticize domestic violence but they also remind the listeners about the importance of fighting for one’s dreams and tell how a smile has a great power over all the evil, just to mention a few themes. The band’s style has gradually developed to its current form that could be described as straightforward but multifaceted rock.
