Artist
Eskimo Spy (aka Ryan Terrell) is an electronic producer and DJ from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up in rural Iowa, and started out playing folk and blues on the guitar. He made the logical step to electronica when he first heard "The Richard D. James Album" by Aphex Twin. Always keen to reinvent himself, Eskimo Spy has demonstrated a wide range of styles from drum and bass, to acid jazz, to lo-fi and dub influenced breakbeats. His music has clearly been influenced by the likes of Flying Lotus, Aphex Twin, Mike Paradinas, Massive Attack, Clark, RJD2, and Alias, among many others. He also co-founded and runs Hospice Media, a record label in the Twin Cities, on which he released his first EP, "So Kimpsey," in December of 2010.
