Artist
Erwin Hartung was born in Bromberg, Germany, in 1901. In the 1930s, Hartung was one of the most recorded singers in Germany. In the 1920s, known mostly as an actor and singer in operettas, Hartung was "discovered" while performing in Berlin by Paul Godwin, a popular orchestra leader. it is estimated that Hartung made over at least 3,000 recordings over his career, although the actual number may be around 5,000. While recording songs, Hartung continued his career as actor on the stage and screen. He died in 1986 in Düsseldorf.
