Ernst Adolf Boehe (* December 27 1880 in Munich , † November 16th 1938 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) was a German conductor and composer . Boehe came from a Bavarian officer's family. Even as a high school student, he took lessons in harmony and counterpoint at Rudolf Louis and piano with Josef Pembaur . From 1900 he studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Munich, where he Ludwig Thuille (composition) and Henry Schwartz (piano) taught. As a conductor he directed from 1907 together with Walter Courvoisier , the People's Symphony Concerts of the Kaim Orchestra in Munich (later the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra ) and took over from 1913 to 1920 the Oldenburg court orchestra . 1920 until his death in 1938, he served as music director of the orchestra Pfalz in Ludwigshafen (today's State Philharmonic Orchestra Rhineland-Palatinate ). Boehes first compositions were taken during the high school years. The focus of energies to Boehes programmatic orchestral works, including a Tragic Overture and a 4-part cycle from Odysseus' journeys. His few works (already at the age of about 30 years, he has exhibited his work as a composer, a) are within the New German School located and show influences of Richard Strauss and Max von Schillings , which was Boehe friends.
