Artist
Considered by most to be the pioneer in what we know today as funk music, Ernie Vincent grew up like many a southern Louisiana child – entrenched in rich musical tradition. His early years were spent playing the guitar, honing his craft with lessons from family, friends, and neighbors . The early 1970s were met with unequivocal notoriety when Ernie formed the Top Notes - a group who carved a place in music history with their production of the funk anthem “Dap Walk.” Since it exploded in 1972, "Dap Walk" has become a cult classic known worldwide as one of the most sought after 45’s in history, most recently featured in HBO’s hit series “Sex and the City.” From Tokyo to Sweden, fans and DJs still scramble to get their hands on one of the few remaining copies. Since the 1970's Ernie has collaborated with many a great musician, writing and producing hundreds of chart toppers with such artists as Ernie K-Doe, Jean Knight, Tommy Ridgely, and Monk Boudreaux. Ernie has been featured on several top-selling compilation CDs and is thrilled to announce the release of an acoustic production in the summer of 2009.
