Erika was born in 1962 to a Spanish mother and a German father, in Mexico City, Mexico. When Erika was 6 months old, her family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she lived until she was 21. Though struggling throughout her childhood with poverty, extreme shyness and trouble with comprehention, due to a difficult home life, Erika held on to her dream of singing. In 1980, Erika won the Miss Wisconsin Teen Pagent, which awarded her a college grant and a full modeling course at John Roberts Powers. Erika started earning a living modeling at the age of 21. Modeling in Milwaukee and St. Louis, doing print, runway, and some regional commercials. At 25 she moved to California to pursue acting. While working on a music video, as a model, the producer asked her if she could sing. Within a week, Erika had recorded background vocals for demo's, and later recorded some demos of her own, in both English and Spanish, that ended up landing her a record deal with CBS Records, Mexico. The pop album was entitled "Erika Nann - Soy Celosa,'' an all Spanish release. Erika opened to rave reveiws, having her first 3 releases going straight to number one on the charts in Mexico. Erika opened up for the famous latin singer Jose Jose at Madison Square Garden in 1989, also to great reviews. In 1990 Erika was hired to sing "No Where To Run To" on one of Adam Sandlers early films, "Going Overboard." Erika was also singing demos and doing voiceover work at this time.
