Erik Söderlind, born 1981, got his first guitar at the age of six. As no one in is familly were musician, he learned to play the guitar listening to heroes such as Eric Clapton and BB King. He was also early influenced by Wes Montgomery, George Benson and Grant Green. When he was ten, he started to take lessons of classic guitar, a first way to work on his technic. At the age of 16, he entered a school of music. There, he got his first contact with jazz thanks to the legendary Nisse Sandström. He got then the opportunity to play with the Swedish elite of Jazz and in this way, got new sources of inspiration. In 2001 Erik moved to Stockholm where he studied at the Royal College of Music. Since he graduated he has quickly become one of the most sought-after young jazz guitarist in Sweden. In 2007, he received the prestigeous Hagström award. The same year he was nominated for the Guitar People Prize. With Max Schultz and the band South Maxico, they played worldwilde. Today Erik is a freelance guitarist. He has performed in Japan, South Africa, France, Italy Dubai, Argentina and China.In 2008, he started his own band with the brilliant organ player Kjell Öhman. The album "Twist for Jimmy Smith" meet with great success in Sweden. Erik is currently part of Magnus Lindgren's band "Batucada Jazz", touring worldwilde.
