House Music was born... and Eric did not sleep when in 1988 house music conquered the dancefloorand the foundation of one of the most important and carismatic form of electronic music was laid. In the early 90s, being a Chicago House-Junky and rising pioneer DJ (in this area), Eric was musically influenced by labels such as Strictly Rhythm, Relief Records, Twisted and Henry Street Music. Forming part of Germany's electronic music scene Eric's passion soon became a business reality: Eric was responsible for the background music during the WEA/Warner Germany gold single and album (award) celebration for Madonna's Single/Album Frozen/Ray of light as well as for the DJ Set at the subsequent party at the famous MALKASTEN Düsseldorf. Due to this performance he became resident at this club. Two more resident engagments followed at Mk2 and La Rocca, also in Düsseldorf. Like in the past Eric continues to extremely enjoy experimenting with sound. "You need to have the instincts of a streetsoccer player. Creative thinking, open to new ideas and sometimes base decisions on a gut level rather than on a mind level. "That is the reason why known DJs like DJ Delicious, Aaron Smith or Soul Seekerz refine their tracks with remixes by Eric Smax. For Eric this is an honor and a confirmation of his talent.
