From the man himself: "i started recording music when i was a kid, probably 14 or 15, but i never played it for anyone. it was pretty bad...just ideas. but then i got a 4-track right after high school and started doing some real songs. i guess that was 1991. it started as "Tiara" and i did a few tapes under that name that were just me. "Going Thru Channels" in 1994 was my first real thing, i thought it was real. but it was a cassette with the newly formed Tiara band on one side and some of my songs on the other. then as Tiara became more of a real band and made our 1st record in 1995, "Calling The Whales", i decided to change the name of my solo work to "Metronome" because i used an old piano metronome a lot in the recordings to keep time. i had several 7" records and indie comp appearances before my first official CD full length album on the Blackbean & Placenta Tape Club label out of California in 1997, "invisible friends". BBPTC was very low budget with photocopied inserts and all hand made stuff, but i really liked the DIY ethic and also the price was right. this was also during the whole "lo-fi" craze so i guess i was sorta clumped in with that group. next i did a split EP with Orange Cake Mix also on BBPTC which was dubbed "the SHE EP" in 1998. 1999 was Lime Green which was originally released on cassette only then re-mixed & re-released later on Trolley Bus records in Japan in 2002. i changed my official name from Metronome to "eric Metronome" because there was another
