Artist
With his virtuoso acoustic fingerpicking guitar style and emotive, well-seasoned vocals, Eric Bailey Erickson has been able to create a unique style that fuses old traditions with today’s popular music. Slightly removed from the standard singer-songwriter mold, his original compositions, which combine traditional acoustic bottleneck blues styles with contemporary rock and pop, have delighted audiences across the United States. With all fingers working independently as he adds beat emphasis with his feet, Eric’s music showcases great songwriting, lyrics, vocals, and callus-building 6 & 12-string guitar playing. Born in Indianapolis and later raised in Michigan and Texas, Eric was drawn to the guitar at an early age and began playing professionally at 15. He later moved to Los Angeles and graduated from Musician's Institute, where he studied with jazz guitar greats Howard Roberts, Pat Martino, Tommy Tedesco, and Ron Eschette, as well as popular blues guitarists Keith Wyatt and Robben Ford. Eric later toured throughout the West and Midwest in various bands until gravitating back to his acoustic roots. As a solo artist, he has opened for everything from folk acts to rock concerts, as well as performing headlining concerts of his original music. Eric has released two albums, A Case of Good Judgment, in 1999, and Slide Rules, in 2001. A new web release is scheduled for summer of 2009.
