Ensemble Ibn Arabi is a Morocco‑based music group founded in Tangier in 1988 and named after the great Andalusian Sufi mystic and poet Muhyī al‑Dīn Ibn ʿArabī. Their repertoire revives the classical Arab‑Andalusian Sufi tradition—blending plaintive nay (end‑blown flute), ʿūd, violin, bendir and tanbūr—with devotional poetry by great Sufi figures such as Rabia al‑Adawiyya and Mansur al‑Hallaj. What sets them apart is a commitment to conveying the orthodox Sufi message—love, forgiveness and spiritual union—rather than merely presenting “folkloric” stage acts. The ensemble’s six core members—Ahmed and Oussama El Kheligh, Haroun Tebool, Abdellah El Mansour, Adrian Espinoz and Kayvan Chemirani—draw on deep familial ties to the Sufi path and decades of musical collaboration to transport listeners into an ecstatic, contemplative state. Beyond concerts, they engage with audiences worldwide, making sacred chants accessible to both Arab and Western listeners while preserving the true Sufi spirit of inner transformation.
