Enochian Theory was a progressive metal and rock band from Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. Formed in 2004, the band was active until 2018 and became known for exploring themes such as creation, life, hopes, fears, and compulsion. Their music was released under their own label, Anomalousz Music. The band formed in late 2004 with a focus on developing their musicianship and expanding their sound. In June 2006, Enochian Theory recorded, mixed, and co-produced their debut release, A Monument to the Death of an Idea, with artwork created by the band to reflect their creative vision. They quickly began performing locally and shared stages with bands like Ephel Duath, Twin Zero, Negură Bunget, and Red Sparowes. In early 2007, Enochian Theory established their own record label, Anomalousz Music Records, to manage their interests and release their work independently. Later that year, they signed a distribution deal with Code 7 Plastic Head Distribution. For their second release in 2008, the band collaborated with engineers Josh Eaves, Ross Gill, and Rich Tamblym. Swedish producer David Castillo, known for his work with artists like Katatonia, Opeth, and Bloodbath, mixed the album Evolution: Creatio Ex Nihilio, released in August 2009 in Europe. Visual artist Robin Portnoff joined the project to design the album's artwork. Evolution: Creatio Ex Nihilio was well received by critics and gained praise from notable musicians such as Bruce Dickinson and Steven Wilson. The band performed
