Encarna Anillo (b. Cadiz, 1983). Cantaora Encarnita Anillo launched her flamenco career when she was a girl, singing and dancing at local events in her birthplace: Cadiz. Since her adolescence she's been singing solo at Andalusian festivals, sharing the bill with big names like Chano Lobato, Juan Villar, Mariana Cornejo, Terremoto, Duquende and La Niña de la Puebla, among others. As far as cante para el baile is concerned, she began alongside bailaores such as Rafaela Carrasco, Andrés Marín, Belén Maya, Rafael Campallo and Farruquito, performing with all of them at both Spanish and international venues. At the 2000 Festival Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla, the cantaora took part in several shows. On the one hand there was ‘Metamorfosis’ by Seville-born bailaor Israel Galván, a project they premièred at Teatro Lope de Vega. And on the other, there was ‘Colores’ by bailaor Rafael de Carmen. And lastly she took part in the recital from the group of Cadiz-born artists ‘Elenco de Cadiz’. Three shows that left no doubt about the talents of the young Cadiz-born cantaora. As she continued to develop professionally, over the next two years she sang accompaniment for flamenco dance, forming part of the companies of Andrés Marín, Rafaela Carrasco, Farruquito and Israel Galván. As a solo performer her tour of Japan alongside Chano Lobato was outstanding, as was a recital as part of Barcelona's Festival Grec, accompanied on guitar by Chicuelo.
