Artist
Emily Plays was born in Pavia, Italy, in the Autumn of 2002. The band started as a duo with Sara Poma (vocals and guitars) and Luca Nicoli (guitars). For two years the duo recorded some acustic lo-fi tracks for a self produced album called 'I Don't Like Your Sense Of Humor (And I Don't Get You'). After a one year hiatus, Emily Plays includes Sara Poma only. In 2006 Sara meets fellow townie Morning Telefilm, aka Emanuele Gatti from News For Lulu. Emily Plays and Morning Telefilm start playing live shows together along with other musicians - Simone Fratti (double bass), Cristian Chierici (synth), Davide Impellizzeri from Ultraviolet Makes Me Sick (drums). During the winter of 2007, Emily Plays records her own songs at Phicophonic Studio with Gianmaria Aprile (Ultraviolet Makes Me Sick) and her usual friends helping out. No more minimal folk. Now it's time for non-minimal folk. The result is: "Shortsighted Tree EP", three Emily Plays songs plus a Flaming Lips cover. Kirsten Postcards was kind enough to love those songs and put them online. Autumn 2008, time for another change: the band has now a brand new line-up. This includes: Marco Albano on piano, Giacomo Tota on guitar and the usual folk/flatmate Davide Impellizzeri on drums. Time to re-do things all over again. After two years of playing shows together, Emily Plays finally record their new album, ‘I Had A Heart That Loved You So Much’. Mixed by Gianmaria Aprile and mastered in Phoenix, AZ, by Roger Seibel @ Sae Mastering,
