Three musicians from Berlin.” With this laconic way of describing themselves, they can hardly be reproached for being bragging Rock musicians. Whilst other bands like to see themselves as a ‘gang’ who ‘are setting out to change the world’ or the like, Elyjah like to put the emphasis on their music and its sheer individuality: elements they all contribute to equally. They once described their first rehearsal experiences in this way: “ Three musicians come together in a space and music emerges in their midst.” - perhaps in its simplicity the most beautiful description of something coming into being, since Kantes “sum of individual parts”. The band began life in the autumn of 2003. Over a number of sessions and projects they got to know one another. Not so unusual for Berlin, as the local Indie scene is particularly impressive for its lively exchange. Up until 2006 Elyjah created instrumental songs, were permanently on the look-out for singers, until one fine day Robert discovered he had a singing voice.
