Elkupe is a Latvian contemporary rock and folk-inspired band known for its existential and atmospheric soundscapes. Formed in 2012 in Sigulda, Latvia, the group blends elements of psychedelic rock, post-rock, and traditional Latvian folk music. The project was founded by musician and poet Andris Habermanis (often associated with the name Dzena Trakie). Their debut album, Uzaust (To Rise), was released in 2013 under the P3lican Partisans label. It won the Best Alternative Music Album at the Latvian Music Recording Awards (Zelta Mikrofons) in 2014. The band's lyrics often feature the work of prominent Latvian poets like Knuts Skujenieks and Edvīns Raups, alongside Habermanis' own poetry. Their music is characterized by long, immersive tracks that create a meditative or "shamanic" experience. Current members: Andris Habermanis - guitars, bass, vocals; Dāvis Burmeisters (Tesa, Dūmu Zārka Zēni, Pamirt) - guitars; Jānis Bušs (Asinis) - guitars, vocals; Marko Rass - keyboards, synthesizers, vocals; Inga Burmeistere - keyboards, synthesizers, vocals; Artis Avotiņš-Lācis (Grab) - drums.
