Elephant Pancakes was formed in 2010 in Seattle, WA, USA. Their music was almost exclusively instrumental, borrowing elements from various types of music, including blues, world, rock, primitive, experimental, electronic, and folk. The music was largely improvised, each song recorded as it was created. Elephant Pancakes' album and song names were chosen at random from a bag of words written down on paper slips. The name "Elephant Pancakes" was determined by the same process. The band members moved on to other projects in 2014.
