A three-piece electroacoustic outfit from South Carolina, known best for their guerilla performances with the Nintendo software of the same name. Their first album was an ultra-limited 2006 release of only five copies, distributed inside papier-mache "plankton". Various versions and remixes of that album have surfaced through similar avenues in the following months. Motherstamper Records contends that Elektroplankton is an ambient folk group, but the member's divergent bootleg versions and remasterings leave any official information open-ended. Recently the band has been adopted by German Nu-Krautrock pioneers Die Plankton as a sort of illegitimate child tribute band.
