Hailing from Berlin, the International Noise-Post-punk trio Elektrokohle brings together talents from Italy, Germany, and Brazil. Comprised of Suzan Flag on bass, Mr. Cigarette Butt on vocals and synth, and Mona Manie on guitar, their fusion creates a unique sonic landscape influenced by '80s Punk, Noise, Krautrock, DarkSurf, and Punk-Blues. Their self-described "Cold Punk" style draws comparisons to the likes of Suicide, Birthday Party, and Warsaw, yet maintains its own distinct flavor. Originally forming as a Duo during the Corona lockdown in 2021, Mona and C.B. channeled the gloom of the times into their music, resulting in sparse bilingual vocals, motorik beats, industrial clangs, screeching guitars, and hypnotic synths. Their debut demo, recorded DIY on an 8-track recorder, showcased a lo-fi, dark, and anxious sound that laid the foundation for their evolving style. The addition of Suzan Flag on bass completed the lineup, bringing a new dimension to their sound. Known for their intense, chaotic, and energetic live performances, the band has garnered a dedicated following. They push the boundaries of experimentation while remaining firmly rooted in Berlin's raw, underground music scene. The band's name pays homage to the legendary first gig of Einstürzende Neubauten after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, held at VEB Elektrokohle, an industrial plant in Berlin Lichtenberg. In 2023, they released their debut Tape-EP, recorded analog at Herzbergstr. with Tobias Lill/D
