Electric Mirrors is the project of Derek Rutter (Asheville, NC) and Eddie Palmer (New York, NY). The duo met during college in Columbus, OH in the doomsday year of 2003. A shared appreciation of The Smiths and The Pixies led to the formation of a live band a few years later. Eventually the project was abandoned as circumstances led them in different directions and to various parts of the world. Fate brought them together again in 2011, and Electric Mirrors was formed. Due to the physical distance between them, songs were recorded and built upon through an exchange of emails. Early works were largely experimental electronic pieces constructed with keyboards and programmed drums. Live instruments and vocals were eventually layered into the mix. They released their first album, entitled “Analogue Mountain” in early 2012. The recording of a follow-up album began in the summer. With a clearer idea of the sound they wanted to achieve and a better grasp of the digital recording process, songs were quickly formed and mixed in a short period. “Unlimited Dream Company” was completed by the end of summer. Southern folk Americana meets the harsh urban landscape of New York. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
