Ekaterina Shelehova, Soprano Kate was born in 1995 in Kaliningrad, Russia. By the age of 6 she had done a radio commercial, sung solo with a choir from her music school, recorded a CD, and won the top prize in the “Russian Hopes” festival. Following her family’s move to Canada, she has won top medals in Rotary and Kiwanis Festivals in Bur-lington and Hamilton, and has twice been recognized by the Ontario Conservatory of Music as the best singer in her grade in the province. During the 2005 and 2007 Kate was involved in operas “Carmen” and “Tosca” presented by Opera Ontario. Presently she is studying opera vocal with renowned opera singer baritone maestro David Varjabed (Opera Belcanto of South Simcoe). Besides singing, she plays piano and takes choreography classes.
