Artist
Edwin Rosen (born 1998 in Stuttgart) is a German singer-songwriter from Stuttgart. Biography: His sound is rooted in new wave, synth pop and post-punk, all sung in his native language. He was born in 1998 in Stuttgart and grew up skating, soaking up punk shows and crate-digging through his father’s record collection before turning to his own music. Rosen released his first single, leichter//kälter, in early 2020 without any label backing or big promotion. The song quickly found an audience with its 80s-inspired synths and stark, poetic German lyrics. He describes his music playfully as “Neue Neue Deutsche Welle”, a throwback to the classic German new wave but filtered through his own perspective. In 2021 Rosen put out his debut EP mitleerenhänden and played his first live shows alongside fellow artist Flawless Issues. Tracks like Verschwende deine Zeit were praised by indie music critics and featured in other media, and Rosen even took a voice role in the mystery podcast Forever Club. He continued to build momentum with singles such as Vertigo in 2022 and 21 Nächte wach, and his live presence grew with performances at major festivals including Maifeld Derby, Reeperbahn Festival and Appletree Garden Festival. That same year he completed his first tour, selling out venues across Germany. Rosen keeps his private life fairly quiet. He balances music with studying English and philosophy for a teaching degree in Tübingen, and he approaches his career with an underground mindse
