Edward Sol (a.k.a Edward S.) born 1974, was educated as sound-designer for cinema/TV production at Kiev's University of Theatre, Cinema & TV Arts. He started playing music (usually bass or guitar) in early 90s in various now neglected indie-rock groups and creating soundtracks for short indie movies, utilising tape loops, field recordings and vintage Soviet synths. Some of his sound-works for films won prestige prizes on different Cinema Festivals (incl. Sergey Paradzhanov's Prize). 2001 he started his own indie label Quasi Pop dedicated to all genres of experimental music. 2002–2006 he worked as sound-producer and played bass, guitar, synth, turntable or computer with different groups & projects, such as Biblioteka Prospero (neo-kraut-folk), Mnimoe (industrial-ambient), Lily (electronica/musak), Ghostboy (collage-soundcapes) etc. 2006 he's returned to his musical roots and begun working solo combining methods, goals and technics from experimental, electro-acoustic music & structured noise, utilising found sounds, tapes, turntable, acoustic & contact microphones, guitar & analogue synths. Edward Sol now lives in Kiev, Ukraine.
