Artist
Creating an alternative blend of Pop and Electro, Matt Duncan fills a gap in his polycentric home, Germany’s Ruhrarea. Echolox captures the millennial disillusion and cynicism in an electronic, hyper-connected era. Yet shimmers of hope and love keep you from falling to the floor and assuming the fetal position in a push and shove of energetic melancholia. It’s hardly categorizable, but somehow you know exactly where it is. Ever since plugging his guitar into a computer for the first time he embraced the complete in-the-box approach. Every song is an experiment, every bar and every lyric an inwardly focused processing attempt. His five-track EPs are accompanied by collections of instrumental (Laovaan Files) and fully improvised (Life Stream) Electronica, which are constantly expanded with new material that has gained popularity among speedpaint artists on YouTube.
