"Vintage Folk-Pop that Rocks" Every word matters every note counts. The music of Early In The Morning is predicated on that fact. It is vital that the listener simultaneously believes in the verity of the specific events and emotions described and relates to the universality of the larger themes—both lyrically and sonically. EITM is a five-year journey of passion, catharsis and hope. There have been failed starts, mistakes, new muses and unhappy endings, but high above the stop-and-go reality of everyday life has been the creation of music. The entirety of the life of EITM’s lead Micah Sorum has revolved around, been a part of, or been lived through the writing of these songs. Over the last five years Micah has literally grown up with these songs, either guiding them or letting the serendipitous nature of the process lead him. EITM’s music bonds the continuum of numerous universal subjects; from the naiveté of first feeling “in love,” to finally finding meaning and self-actualizing. Each song represents so much of him and the changes he’s gone through. The songs were not rushed but left to simmer and mature—a reflection of the life of the art’s creator. Even within a single song there is evidence of maturity. Micah would write part of song, leave it, but then it would come together when he was in a different mind-frame and new lyrics and rhyme scheme would materialize. The lyrics transcend personal opinions and experiences so that they can be gifted to the world
