DZEGUZĪTE - the Riga, Latvia children's popgroup of Latvian Radio. In the concerting group there are 8 children in the age from 6 to 12. The artistic leader of the group is Daila Martinsone. The group has been performing already for 33 years. Several generations of singers have changed. They have left a lot of records at the Latvian Radio - mainly songs by Latvian composers, sung just by the children themselves or together with the best professionals. The most long - standing and productive cooperation of the group has been with the composer Raimonds Pauls, who often accompanies the group and is the author of numerous songs and programs performed by the group. In close cooperation with maestro Raimonds Pauls 9 cassettes and 4 CD's (Milky Way, Latvian folk songs, Christmas songs, Melodies from popular Disney cartoons) have been recorded. With a really great success together with maestro Raimonds Pauls they have given concerts both in the Republic and outside it. Dzeguzīte has given concerts in Estonia, Lithuania, Sweden, Poland, Finland, Denmark, Bulgaria, the Ukraine, Moldova. In 1996 together with the soloist Laima Vaikule and maestro Raimonds Pauls the popgroup has given concerts in the Moscow concert hall Rossija, in Oktyabrskaya in Saint Petersburg and in Madison Square Garden in New York.
