A son of Pocohontas County, West Virginia, Dwight Diller is a master teacher of the clawhammer banjo and preserver of the music of his region. He was instrumental in the discovery and preservation of the music of his neighbors, the Hammons family. His playing is characterized by a strong rhythm, and he has influenced many current old-time banjo players.
