Dusty Fungus embodies the Synaesthetic nature of the human sensorium whilst complimenting the manifold opulence of experience and being. Born in Cairns and now living in Brisbane, I have a deep seated passion for a variety of musical genres. I maintain an affiliation with ambience, evolving soundscapes and waveforms that convey meaning through our senses. My intention is to contradict the rudiments of the western musical tradition, which has placed greater emphasis on the cerebral processing of musical sound, rather than the raw bodily reaction to sound per se . My project, Dusty Fungus, nurtures our synaesthetic body and channels listeners through a range of aural environments that intend to stimulate unseen, unspeakable and unforgettable realms of experience through tickling the most primal areas of our neo-cortex. Furthermore, through the participation in a variety of dance styles ranging from Ballroom, New Vogue and Latin Dusty Fungus has cultivated a personal appreciation and love of “Body-Music”. With a love for all soundwaves; infrasonic, audible, corrupted, mangled, dusty scratched vinyls, fungi infected CDs, digital, analogue, harsh, soft, cold, warm, sweet, sour, round, flat, big, small, dark, bright, boomy, tinny, broken, whole, fragmented, micro, macro, spicy, fried, overcooked, raw and all those in between.
