Duraluxe formed in 1997 when Troy Daugherty joined forces with Chris Colbert in Nashville, TN and opened their studio, Dolorosa. The studio provided the creative backdrop as they worked on their first full length as Duraluxe. The album was helmed by Colbert and Daugherty; however, they teamed with Chicago native, Keith Cleversley to record some songs. The end result was the 1999 Meddle Records release, Dolorosa. They recruited long time friends, drummer Mark Emge and bassist Tommy Wedge. They soon relocated to Athens, Georgia and recruited keyboardist/guitarist/background vocalist Megan Morrison. The group relocated yet again, this time to Long Beach, CA where the band recorded the 2001 split, I Duel Sioux and the Ale of Saturn along with the Lassie Foundation. In 2002, Duraluxe released The Suitcase, which was filled with psychedelic pop and released on Hidden Agenda records. After a few years in Los Angeles Troy, Chris, and Megan decided to head back to the midwest. They relocated to Daugherty's hometown of Evansville, IN. Once situated, they added a new rhythm section of Aaron Distler on drums and Matt Braun on bass In August of 2005, Duraluxe moved back to Nashville TN.
