The proper spelling of the artist's name is Dumitru Fărcaș (pronounced Farcash) . Dumitru Fărcaş (Groşi, Maramureş, Romania, 12 May 1938 – 7 August 2018) was a Romanian taragot and oboe player. He played the instruments on all major stages in the world and made the taragot known all over the world. The taragot is a Hungarian/Romanian/Turkish reed instrument related to the saxophone and clarinet. He studied music at the "Gheorghe Dima" Academy in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and he is the founder and chief of the "Mărțișorul" Artistic Ensemble for students in Cluj-Napoca.
