Raleigh, North Carolina musician Dulcimer Dan is a hammered dulcimer player who has been practicing for years. As a registered nurse he would often play in the nurse's lounge at the hospital while he was on break. Soon he formed the Blue Skies Band with some local musicians and released an album entitled Shepherd's Wife's Waltz. Though they only planned on making one album, it began receiving airplay on national public radio shows. So the band went back and recorded a second album. Dulcimer Dan and the Blue Skies Band has recorded ten albums and sold over 200,000 recordings at folk festivals around the country. Their rendition of St. Anne's Reel is the theme music for the Emmy Award winning PBS show Making It Grow.
