It was a boring summer afternoon 2003 in Umag, Croatia. A group of four young men were talking about music. They found out they can lend some instruments and a place to play them. So they decided to go and play "something anything". It is important to say that at the time, none of them could really play any instrument, except for one of them who was already a bassist, but for this occasion he played drums... The concept was easy, "let's see what can we do with our minimal skills." So, they decided to record everything they did. In only Three days, they recorded a DIY album on tape, and digitalized it two days after. They called the group Drekstrit bojs. It is a joke name after the Backstreet Boys. "Drek" in croatian means "shit". Their only album is called Pederi (Fags), after one of the songs, called P.E.D.E.R.I, which is an acronym for Ponajviše, eto da eliminišemo rasiste iz Istre (Mostly to Eliminate Racists from Istria). The music is beyond amateurish, not suitable for everyones ear. Great if you are a lover of trashy music (I mean trashly played). The lyrics are mostly fun and jokeish, and mostly in more-less croatian langauage. Both music and lyrics are products of pure not-much-skill improvisation. Most of you might say it sounds like shit, but still this is an interesting piece of art, taking in consideration the concept and the way of doing it.
