Dream for an End is a musical project created by its only member Kirk Smoot. It was spawned by Kirk's desire to create heavy music, which has stayed true since its birth in 2005. Starting out as a sort of Ambient Metal, Dream for an End has since grown into a blend of Metal, Hardcore, and Punk. Dream for an End has had a great deal of influences through out its time; which have included Incubus, The Chariot, Nile, Every Time I Die, The Blue Letter, Norma Jean, and The Red Chord. Lyrical content for Dream for an End has a wide spectrum. Ranging anywhere from life, experiences, worship, love, misery, pain, and the apocalypse. Dream for an End's first EP was released in 2006 after finally gaining the ability to record. This EP was as stated by Kirk "Very childish, but is very important in setting the foundation of this project." This EP titled Estimating Tomorrow took well over a year to create. It also focused more on ambience and melody, instead of the sonic overload Dreams strives to create. The reason being was "The lack of screaming ability," as claimed by Kirk. After many more "failed EPs" Kirk finally released In Liberation which was another very important EP for Kirk. This EP was in a sense that last nail in the coffin of Kirk's ambient metal streak, and his means of releasing some inner demons that had finally been let go.
