Dallas-based Dove Hunter built quite a large buzz in the local and regional music community for two years before releasing their debut, The Southern Unknown. Their rootsy mix of rock and folk is highlighted by lengthy instrumental exchanges between bassist Chad DeAtley and guitarist Jason Wortham. Formed around 2008, this new 4-piece iteration of the Dallas/Ft. Worth outfit released their sophomore record on Dallas' Idol Records in April 2015. Chock full of spacey, psychedelic rock n' roll, the band shows off their chops with some complex rhythms, melodic vocals, and some nicely polished tunes on "Black Clouds Erupt Us." Taking from sources such as Buffalo Springfield, David Bowie,Led Zeppelin and Yes as well as 60's funk and roots reggae, Dove Hunter has its roots deep in the late 60's early 70's rock dirt.
