Doudi Jazz Band

The first band was founded at 1978 like a “KLAIPEDA DIXIELAND”, and V. Grubliauskas and R. Malinauskas played in this band like a members. 1985 E. Federavicius joined the band and 1993 all the members of this band started to play together as “DOUDI JAZZ BAND” ( in lithuanian language it’s mean – “to give a power of jazz”). All the members of the band are professional jazz musicians and all of them are the lectures of jazz department in Klaipeda University. Without any doubt this band is one of the best bands in Lithuania and all the eight last years they are still most popular main stream and entertaiment jazz bands in the country and wellknown in Western Europe too. The band played in Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Sweden, Finland, France, Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Russia, some of members played as a soloists in USA, England and etc. The styles which are played in band concerts are main stream, swing, bebop, boogie-woogie, rhytm & blues, jazz rock, cool jazz, lathin american, rock’n roll. ‘DOUDI JAZZ BAND” took a part in a lot of jazz festivals in Europe and everythere had a lot of success and the good opinion of the musical critics. The main singer in this group is band leader and trumpet player Vytautas Grubliauskas (“Kongo”). As critics says, he is one of the best imitator of Louis Armstrong music in Europe as trumpet player and singer too.
