Formed in 2009 in Toronto, Double Eyelid is best characterized as art-damaged goth music with a somewhat macabre sensibility. The band experienced its first international exposure when the video for its first single, 'dead is better,' became a hit on youtube and was picked up for TV broadcast by MuchMusic. This single was released with a b-side cover of the early Christian Death classic 'Spiritual Cramp,' which was praised by Christian Death guitarist and punk legend Rikk Agnew, who described it as '... amazing and a high compliment' on his Facebook page. The band's web page lists its musical influences as including Bauhaus, Sex Gang Children, and Edith Piaf.
