Doru Calotă also known as Doru de la Târgoviște was a romani (gipsy) musician,singer and composer.Doru started as a musician in the early 1980s, playing lăutărească & orientală music.First audio records can't be found, most early studio albums know until now are "Muzică de Ascultare" and "Volumul 2" recorded in 1993 & 1994 in Bucuresti by AMMA Studio and AUDIO STANLEY. He composed most of the hits of the 90s but also of the early 2000s.Most often he sang with his son Robert Calota and his niece Gratiela Gociu, many of these albums were recorded and mixed in the Toni Digital Rec studios under the license of the Toni Music record label owned by his good friend Anton Dragus.
