There are at least two bands using the name Dormant. 1) Dormant is a one man black metal band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, founded in 2006 by Todd Paulson, owner of the label God Is Myth Records, and former member of Uvall. His debut full-length album, "Beneath the Mighty Oak", was released in 2007. He decided to move away from the somewhat strict confines of a straight forward black metal project such as Uvall to concentrate on this more ambitious work. Combining aspects of black metal and neofolk, along with unusual song structures the results of the album make for a very earthly and organic experience. This album also includes guests Andrew Curtis-Brignell (Caïna) who contributed lyrics and vocals to the opening track titled "Black Ashes" as well as Tanner Anderson (Celestiial) who plays hammered dulcimer on the title track. 2) Dormant is a Christian black metal project from the Netherlands. Nain-Usar, the sole member, employs ambient and folk influences to soften the edge of his music and give it a dark, brooding atmosphere. Dormant's first EP, "Consolamentum," was released in November 2006 on Son of Man Records. A second EP titled "Alchemy" was loosely scheduled to be released on the same label sometime in the summer of 2007, but with Son of Man Records going out of business in February of 2007, the current release date and label are unknown.
